Alex talking about how she bit through a co-stars tongue, after asking him to stop sticking it in her mouth during an on stage kiss. 

It kinda bothers me that she’s put in the position of having to defend herself here… she clearly was NOT in the wrong for doing what she did but the initial reaction is that she’s a “savage bitch” which implies that she should have just sat there and accepted being sexually assaulted because that’s what nice girls are supposed to do… And then to have her standing up for herself sexualized like that… I feel like that’s just dehumanizing, like, either defending yourself is considered unacceptable behavior or it’s going to be repackaged and objectified for (cis,het)male desire because women and their actions can’t exist for their own reasons and purposes but instead can only ever exist insofar as they relate to (cis,het)male opinions.  This is disgusting and makes me really fucking angry.

while i completely see your point, i feel you’ve missed the mark - idk if you actually saw the interview? the reaction she actually got was awed respect (“you savage bitch!” was graham impressed). every man there sort of looked at her like, “this is not a woman to be messed with”. i to this day will champion alex’s entire reaction in the story, because she did not give one fuck about telling someone who was crossing the line that they were crossing the line. if she had a problem with the response to her story, she would have said so. that’s alex. she’s very open both with her life and her sexuality. if she had felt ed was out of order, she would have told him immediately.

yes, her story was absolutely a product of rape culture. yes, the guy’s tongue she bit was absolutely proof that men are raised to not take no for an answer. but no, her story was not invalidated by the reaction. i genuinely thing the ‘kind of hot’ comment was ed giving alex props. and if alex (an incredibly outspoken and independent individual) didn’t object, then making an issue out of it and inferring the implications of comments taken out of context on a gif set is wildly unfair. 

i mean, at the end of the day, alex kingston bit through a man’s tongue because he was harassing her. that’s the most badass thing i’ve ever heard.
